A little dip in the pool...

This grad session started out in the studio as always, proceeded outside to the grain bins, old cars, orchard rows (including some cute pictures with her neice), a creek and ended up in my pool!  She was there to have a great time and willing to do anything to get some unique and creative images.  The only part that wasn't planned was the dip in the pool.  After we left the creek, she asked if she could jump off my diving board into the pool.  When we got to the pool, there were 7 kids under the age of 10 that got to witness the event! Thanks Darianne, for letting me photograph you and for being such a trooper!

Better late than never.

I now see how quickly time goes by and the blog gets forgotten.  I like my clients to see their pictures first before I post them anywhere so I usually email them to have a peek.  This session took place at the beginning of June.  My hairdresser, Tera,  has been wanting family pictures for many years now.  She had  booked with me a few years back but I had an incident while plugging in an iron that left me with a badly burned right hand and caused me to postpone and even cancel some of my sessions.  She made my promise I wouldn't use anything electrical for the week before her pictures!
Anyway, she wanted something really different and decided on the setting to be a ghost town called Loverna.  I had never been there before but was more than willing to check it out.  The day of the pictures, Shawna and I packed up the gear and met the family at their home and followed them to Loverna.  It was quite a trip, we weren't sure if we were ever going to get there but it was worth the wait!

After tons of insect repellent due to the insanely hungry mosquitos we headed back to their home where we were treated to a very delicious martini, thanks to Ardel!

Rainbows, horses and a pretty girl!

Last night I had an amazing session that started with a little wind and a lot of sun.  Surprise, surprise the weather did a 360 in a matter of minutes.  The wind picked up, there were some scarey looking clouds, thunder and lightening and then rain.  You would never know it from the images I ended up with other than the beautiful rainbow(s) in the background...and yes, there really was a rainbow, it's not my Photoshop magic!

In between the rainy days.

The rainy days have been making it a little tricky for me to squeeze in all of my scheduled sessions.  I had a hot windy day of ball and soccer team pictures.  I decided to do something a little out of the ordinary with the team pictures this year.  I think they look pretty cute!

I ended up rescheduling 3 sessions and only being able to do the one.  This little sweetheart first came to me when she was just 6 days old.  She's been back a couple more times in her first year and joined me last week to celebrate her 1 year birthday.  Her mom has started a home based business called "Pretty Baby" and makes some adorable tutus & headbands among other things.  She came with 2 different tutus and at the end of the session we used one of mine that she had made.  It was a very entertaining session, the facial expressions were hilarious and she went home having eaten a little bit of beads, chalk and dandilions!

We started out the session in the studio with Steph and a special little person in her life.  Steph has spent a lot of time babysitting and just hanging out with this little cutie.  She looks like a little doll sitting there.
Steph also brought her boyfriend and one of her best friends along for some pictures with each of them.

We spent a few more minutes in the studio with Steph...

Next we went outside to have a little fun!

By the end of the session the sun had disappeared below the horizon.  We spent pretty much the entire evening together and created some memorable images for this grad to cherish forever.
Thanks Steph (and mom) for allowing me to get the dress a little wet and have tons of fun!

Water, water everywhere!

Water seems to be the theme from the weekend so far.  This weekend started out with this FUN session with these 2 kiddos.  Their mom wanted something different and she came to the right person!  I loaded up my 3 kids and drove to her house. While my kids played a the playhouse in the yard, my little models, their mom and I wandered down the driveway to find some puddles...and we had no problem doing that as you can see!  The belly flop was the best, mom didn't really think she would do it but she sure did!

Saturday morning took us on a bit of a drive south of Consort, typical Shawna and I, even though we had directions we managed to get a little lost!  We were just a little late!  This spot was chosen by the family, it's on their land and will be very meaningful to them to have a photograph of it hanging on their walls to treasure for years to come.  The mosquitos were vicious but after a good layer of bug spray we were good to go.  Here is one of my faves...

I came home and spent the entire afternoon enjoying the sun and planted all of my flowers that have been sitting in the pots for the past 2 weeks!
This evening I had another grad session.  I will just post one for now to give you an idea of what we did.  I need to sign off for tonight, I have 2 soccer teams and 2 ball teams to photograph tomorrow as well as watching Connor play soccer and Cassidy play ball.  Have a wonderful sunny Sunday!

Mark & Catherine

This past weekend started with me taking engagement pictures of my cousin and his fiancee.  They asked me to photograph their wedding in August. It will be an outdoor ceremony in my grandparents yard near Vegreville.
They live in Edmonton and wanted to escape for the weekend.  They have seen the pictures I've done in the coulees and at the Mudd Buttes near Monitor and really wanted engagement pictures in those surroundings.  My 3 kids tagged along and went exploring as I got some great shots of Mark and Catherine.
